When you open the Masir app to book a ride, you are trusting us with something personal — where you are, where you are going, and how you move through your day. We do not take that lightly. This Privacy Policy is written to be honest and clear, free of legal fog. It explains exactly what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and the rights you hold over it. What Information We Collect

Your Personal Details

To create your passenger account and provide a personalized experience, we collect your full name, phone number, email address, and profile photo if you choose to add one. This information allows us to identify you, communicate with you, and ensure your account is yours alone.

Your Location

Your location is the foundation of how Masir works. To book a ride, we need to know where you are and where you want to go. We collect your current device location, your chosen pickup and drop-off points, and route data during active trips. Location tracking may continue in the background while a ride is in progress to ensure real-time accuracy and safety for both you and your driver.

We do not track your location when you are not actively using the app or taking a ride.

Your Ride Activity

We maintain a record of your ride history, the routes you have taken, booking timestamps, trip status updates, and any ratings or feedback you leave for drivers. This history helps us resolve disputes, improve the service, and give you access to your past trips when you need them.

Your Device

We automatically collect basic technical information about your device, including its type and model, operating system, device identifiers, and mobile network information. This helps us keep the app functioning reliably and securely across different devices and operating conditions.

How We Use Your Information

Every piece of data we collect has a clear and specific purpose. We use your information to:

  • Deliver the ride service — match you with a nearby driver, enable navigation to your pickup point, calculate your fare, and track your trip from start to finish.
  • Communicate with you — send ride confirmations, driver arrival alerts, trip status updates, and important account or security notifications.
  • Keep you safe — monitor active trips for unusual activity, enable real-time tracking for your safety, and respond quickly to incidents or complaints.
  • Support you — resolve any issues with your ride, answer questions, and process feedback or refund requests fairly.
  • Improve the platform — analyse patterns in usage, reliability, and passenger experience to build a better, faster, and more dependable service.
  • Prevent fraud — detect suspicious activity and protect both passengers and drivers from misuse of the platform.
  • Meet our legal obligations — comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful governmental requests, and maintain records required by regulation.

Location Data — A Closer Look

Your location is among the most sensitive data we handle, and we treat it accordingly. The app requires location access to function — without it, we cannot find drivers near you, guide them to your pickup point, or provide real-time trip tracking.

Location is collected while the app is active and during an ongoing ride, including background access when needed for trip continuity. Once your ride ends and you close the app, location collection stops. We do not use your location data for advertising, and we never sell it to any third party.

Notifications

We may send you notifications about your driver's approach and arrival, ride status changes, payment confirmations, account or security alerts, and occasional service announcements. You are in control — all notification permissions can be managed at any time through your device settings.

Who We Share Your Information With

We share your information only when it is necessary to complete your ride or meet a legal obligation — and never more than required.

Your driver will receive your first name, pickup location, and drop-off destination — the information they need to find you and complete the trip safely. Drivers do not have access to your full contact details beyond what the app provides in-session.

Trusted service providers help us operate the platform behind the scenes. These include mapping and navigation services, cloud hosting and storage providers, push notification services, and analytics platforms. They are permitted to use your data only for the purpose of delivering their services to us — nothing more.

Law enforcement and regulatory authorities may receive your information when we are legally required to disclose it — for example, in response to a valid court order or governmental request.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party, ever.

How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain your information for as long as it is needed to provide you with a reliable service and to honour our responsibilities. This includes the duration of your active account, and a reasonable period afterward to handle any pending disputes, satisfy legal and tax obligations, prevent fraud, and maintain the safety of the platform.

When data is no longer required for any of these purposes, it is securely deleted or anonymized.

Deleting Your Account

You have the right to delete your account and your personal data at any time. To do so, open the app, navigate to your Profile, go to Settings, and tap the Delete Account option.

Please be aware that certain records — such as trip history, payment records, or information tied to unresolved legal or safety matters — may be retained for the period required by law, even after account deletion is requested.

How We Protect Your Data

We protect your information using a combination of technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted data transmission, secure server infrastructure, strict internal access controls, and authentication mechanisms that limit who can view or process your personal data.

That said, no digital system is entirely risk-free. In the unlikely event of a security incident, we are committed to responding quickly and transparently.

Third-Party Services

The Masir Ride App uses third-party services to support its operation, including Google Maps for navigation, Firebase for infrastructure, push notification providers, analytics platforms, and cloud infrastructure services. These providers operate under their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them if you wish to understand how they handle data independently.

Children's Privacy

The Masir Ride App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child has registered on the platform, we will promptly remove their account and all associated data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the technology we use, or our legal obligations. When we do, the revision date at the top of this page will be updated accordingly. Your continued use of the app after any update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For changes that are significant in nature, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you directly before they take effect.
